Influencer – Variable

A histogram is a representation of the distribution of numerical data. It is an estimate of the probability distribution for an uncertain output/s. A histogram is well known and understood. However, our approach allows something we call partial histograms. These partial histograms represent a partial part of the final histogram and their sum creates the final histogram. This allows visualizing how each part of the variable influences the final distribution.
Influencer compares the final distribution against a distribution with several variable/s neglected from the final model. It is possible to visualize, how each variable influences the output distribution. This allows a comparative visualization of the influence of the selected variable and focuses on the right aspects of the problem. For a better perspective, the final Probability Distribution Function is visualized on the background.

NOTE: Apart from the increment function, the variable influencer considers the overall effect of the given variable and all its interactions.

Fig. 1: Influencer – variable

Table under sets -> options refers to variables required to create the histogram. The default mode is: all variables selected and the variable/variables of interest can be de-selected to see the change in the final distribution.

Switches: #

  • Select: <increment>: Choose input variables to be used to build the influencer histogram plot.

Buttons: #

  • Invert: Inversion of checked and unchecked tick boxes selected for the visualization.
  • Select all: Select all available increment function.
  • Unselect all: Unselect all available increment function.
  • Apply: Changes on the graph will take effect after pressing the apply button.

The graph is fully adjustable with options, where:

  • Plot title: Title of the graph
  • Title font: Font type and size of the plot title
  • X Axis Label: Label of X axis
  • Y Axis Label: Label of Y axis
  • Axis Font: Font type and size of the plot axis
  • Bin Count: Number of categories in histogram
  • X Range: Restriction of range for X axis, toggle on/off
  • Y Range: Restriction of range for Y axis, toggle on/off
  • Full PDF Color: Color of histogram plot of selected variables
  • Selected PDF Color: Color of histogram plot of full probability density function
  • Normalize Plot: Normalization of histogram plot, toggle on/off
  • Log. vertical Axis: Logarithmic scale of vertical axis, toggle on/off
  • Mean value selected PDF: Color of mean value line – full probability density function, toggle on/off
  • Mean value selected PDF: Color of mean value line – selected variables, toggle on/off
  • Legend Font: Font type and size of the legend, toggle on/off
