Function Plot

Table of Contents

Standard function plot used to visualize the behaviour of the function of interest. Allows to explore absolute output values through the design space. It can show the value of output for specified combination of inputs or the output value as a function of one or two selected variables.

How to use it: #

Fig. 1: Function plot

Table under sets -> options allows to set up the function of interest. In order to visualize 2-D plot, tick the variable, which should be visualized and set the numbers on the left side for all non-selected variables. For the 3-D plot, tick two variables, which should be visualized and set the numbers on the left side for all non-selected variables. For obtaining the value at one particular point, unselect all the tick-boxes and set the numbers on the left side for all non-selected variables. Note: values have only allowed ranges, which is defined by boundaries in the pre-processing process. These boundaries are shown in brackets next to the name of the variable.

Buttons: #

  • Visualize mode: Output function is shown as a plot showing output values as a function of one or two selected input variables.
  • Text mode: Shows exact values of function points and their inputs as a table. Table can be stored into a file of comma separated values.
  • Apply: Once the inputs are defined, this button will draw the plot. Note that changes in the options will take effect after the ’Apply’ button is pushed.

The graph is fully adjustable with options, where:

  • Plot title: Title of the graph
  • Title font: Font type and size of the plot title
  • Function Color: Basic color of interpolating curve, toggle on/off
  • X Range: Restriction of range for X axis, toggle on/off
  • Y Range: Restriction of range for Y axis, toggle on/off
  • Z Range: Restriction of range for Z axis, toggle on/off
  • Axis Font: Font type and size of the plot axis
  • X Axis Label: Label of X axis
  • Y Axis Label: Label of Y axis
  • Z Axis Label: Label of Z axis
